1988 VW Golf has issues starting after a drive.?

I've been having trouble with my Golf. If I let it sit for a couple hours it has no problem starting. But when I get home then try to go out maybe 30 minutes later it wont start. At first I thought it was the stupid seat belt no connecting. Not the problem, I'm not sure if just needs to cool down or if something else is going on. Thanks!
