My left hand is numb, someone please help?

Not sure what is going on. Many years ago, I hurt my neck pulling up carpet, they thought I tore a ligament ...my ring and middle finger were kind of weirdly numb on the pads of them, also when I was picking up things, it seemed like it took a few extra seconds to get the idea to my fingers to work, this lasted for about 6 months until the feeling came back pretty well to normal. I also had pain in my arm....sounds a little similar to yours, maybe something like this is going on. Best wishes.
