My dog has a torn paw pad. Help?

I am not a vet, but it has happened to my dog before. Personally, what I did, was same thing, wrapping, cleaning, socks. But I didn't have money to go to vet, so I told my dog to guard, my bed. That way she laid on her side the whole time. And I had her do her bathroom in special box. That way she didn't walk at all. I know its silly, but I dissolved cough candy in water and wet her paws, it seemed to ease her pain a little bit, maybe because of the menthol's cooling effect. She was a poodle, and she could walk without visible limping after 5ish day. If your dog listens to you, then you can do the same thing. I hope this helps a little bit.
