Is it common to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome at age 14?

I've asked questions before about CTS and mentioned my symptoms and how I have been playing bass clarinet, piano, and clarinet for almost 4 years now. I play almost 5 hours every day and when I'm not practicing, I'm either writing or on the computer. I hear all of the time that it's not possible to develop CTS at this young of an age, but when I think of my symptoms and the ones for CTS, I get so confused. Is it possible for it to develop at my age due to my activities, or is it something else?

The only way to get rid of it is surgery. They go into your wrist and snip a nerve. The problem is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I first discovered it when I was in 8th grade and I'm 63 now and still have it. When I first noticed it they didn't have a name for it and didn't know much about it. So, either have the surgery or learn to live with it. It never gets any better, only worse.

Anyone know about Florida's Pre VPK program (free preschool)? I have a question.?

My son turns 4 in late August so I have let his day care know that I would like him to start Pre VPK (Florida's free preschool) there in August. So I went to check him in to day care this morning and it said he has been moved from the 3 year old room to the Pre VPK room and is now in that class. As far as I know you can either take it during the summer for 5 hours a day or for the entire school year for 3 hours a day. Does anyone know if he can take it for the summer AND for the school year? If he can only do one or the other I need to make sure he only takes it for the school year. The reason being the before and after care is cheaper and his little brother is starting daycare in August so I'm trying to get my day care costs down to a minimum. Anyone that knows about this, your input is appreciated.

Carpal tunnel and pain shooting up to my elbow?

I work at Cargil...where we slaughter cows and do the meat. Well I work with a knife and every morning I wake up and my fingertips tingle. Wow!! Sounds like some of it is discipline. When they throw a fit, time them out!! If used correctly, it really works, I have four kids, used time outs for all and there great kids. But, you have to follow through. You can't weaken. The whole potty thing is pretty easy, put em' in pull ups. They will get there eventually. Also, they could be using this potty thing for attention. The less said the better. When they mess themselves, just change them, say nothing act like no big deal. Their going to wonder why their not getting all the attention they used to. Eventually tell them they need to change their pants themselves, leave them in their room till they do. You may have a mess, but if you follow through and continue to wait for them to change themselves, no t.v., snacks, toys, nothing till they change their own pull up, it will work. Can I get into Texas A&M or Baylor?

I'm going into my senior year. Our gpas are on the 6.0 system, but my counselor helped me convert it and I am a 3.0 to 3.1 gpa. This coming year im taking AP statistics, governmemt and environmental science. Going to a somewhat conservative school is very important to me. My sat scores are math : 520 writing: 560 and critical reading : 540 but im taking it again ( I know baylor superscores the sat) I just took my ACT so no score yet, but I took it in 7th grade since I was in the duke tip program with no calculator and not knowing the math and made a 15 composite. I was a varsity swimmer two years, varsity water polo one year and dance team two years. I am in the health science slc and was in health science technology. I have 2 years lifeguarding and one year nannying. I am in trooper school, two years. Its a preschool amd im a teacher and make lesson plans and have to be interviewed to make it. I was also a volunterr swim coach for two years... I need to add up the hours its alot. I also used to read to kids at my library. My high school is very competitive at the beginning of jr year I was in the top 36% my grades were best this year and so hopefully when they release new rankings i'm under top 33% so I would be top third. What do you think my chances are of getting in. also tamu's dorms fill up quickly, so since I am not automatically accepted and wouldnt know until march would I have a good or bad chance of getting a dorm? What could this be? Is it a medical condition?

I've had those feelings, sensations, they are normal. Hyper sensitive, when I was a teenager, sometimes I would feel really tall, I'm 5'3", strange, funny feeling. or other times it seems as if you are one with the world, kind of an all knowing feeling, but no words for it. You'll outgrow your anxiety , don't let that be something you carry with you all your life. It's normal to be anxious in some situations or nervous. It's a new 2000 diagnosis that is normal for everybody so the Rx can get money/meds to people who have a normal situation. May have super sensory sensation, If it's all the time and you suffer hearing loss or other measurable sx, then get seen. I'm sure somebody will name it for you. Why don't people think cheerleading (or at least Allstar/ Competitive cheerleading) is a sport?

I think, no scratch that, I KNOW that cheerleading is a sport! You have to tumble, dance, be super flexible, lift people up, etc to be a cheerleader! Also, cheerleaders are tough! I'm a base, and I get hit all the time by my fliers and I just keep on going. All bases are like that. Once I got kicked in the neck and I just ignored it! Also, most, if not all cheerleaders are not like the stereotypes. Everyone thinks that cheerleaders are just slutty girls in skimpy outfits that run around and shout annoyingly with pompoms at football games, and then they go bang the football players. Have you asked your 2.5 year old what actually happened? Ask her what the daycare did when she fell down. The daycare isn't going to give your child the love & attention you would have if you were there but I'm sure they made sure she was ok. I would ask if they use peroxide to clean the cut, etc. when you put her in the preschool.

Pregnant Moms: How do you deal with Carpal tunnel syndrome if you have it as a symptom?

With my first pregnancy, I didn't get it until I was in my third trimester. But I am in my second pregnancy and only 5 months into it, I have developed it already. It is so painful, 2 extra strength tylenol barely do anything for it. Shaking my arms hands and putting them up on pillows doesn't do anything. How did you deal with it? It was more bareable for me last time, knowing I was closer to delivery, but it was still very painful and the wrist guards they gave me didn't help, it made it worse. I have so much longer to go! I've been having trouble with my Golf. If I let it sit for a couple hours it has no problem starting. But when I get home then try to go out maybe 30 minutes later it wont start. Why is my arm hurting?

For a year or so now, my hand and wrist hurt when I'm stirring something in the kitchen, trying to open a jar, and even when I'm trying to brush a random knot out of my hair. It would only come when I was doing these things, and then it would go away just as quickly. Well, the past couple of weeks this has been happening again. This time, however, it hasn't gone away and has spread all the way up to my shoulder. My fingers, wrist, elbow, and shoulder all hurt almost constantly. I am worried that I may have developed carpal tunnel syndrome. It started when I was pregnant and has only gotten worse. My right wrist stays in pain. There's never any bruising or swelling. I'm having the hardest time deciding where to send my 3 yr old in Sept. She's at a good daycare. But we thought a school environment might be good. We registered for preschool at one of the best catholic sch in the area. Now I'm not sure if we should go through with it. Had carpal release surgery in january,2 drs are saying i have possible rsd a third is saying no way?

i have numbness in 2 fingers and hypersensitivity where the incision was also in the 2 fingers with the numbness i can use it but as the day goes on there is swelling and more sensitivity also to any kind if vibration such as driving has anyone ever dealt with such a thing?ive had no relief for 6 months this came from the surgery so im at full medical improvement and back to work full time with full duty but im not at 100% the last dr i saw said its my brain telling my hand its still injured i say thats bs hopefully somebody can give me a little insight thank you

I get 4-6 hours of sleep per night and spend the rest of the night online... but i'm fine?

i fall asleep between midnight and 4 and wake up 4-6 hours later, so between 6 and 10 depending on when i nodded off that night. but it does not affect my performance in my home schooling my concentration or anything. my doctor, when asked said i have no sleep deprivation symptoms. i wake up refreshed and ready for action usually. also, i admit to being an internet addict and it's no secret to my family, and i usually spend the more lonely part of the night playing runescape, chatting on facebook or just looking at cats. i do it during a lot of the day time too, and people say it's bad for you. bad for your eyes, makes you fat and can cause carpal tunnel, wrist and hand fatigue and other complications in that area. but i have perfect 20/20 vision, am average weight and could probably break a doorknob off on purpose if for whatever reason i had to. so what's up with both of those things? has my body adapted to the conditions? am i just built that way? is medical science wrong? wtf did i accidentally do to make my body so friggin cool?

Employer Called and Asked me to Be at Interview in 30 Minutes?

Ok I applied for a position about 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, while I was out and about, the hiring manager called me @ 150PM, and asked if i could be there about 220pm? of course I said yes. But the place was 20 minutes away, and I was not at home when they called me. The manager said she was about to go out of town, and if we did not do the interview now, than she would have to do it in 2 weeks. So i Just rushed up there. It's not a great position. I had on Kackie Shorts and Leather sandals. With a Black Polo shirt. I apologized for being under dressed and she said not to worry about it. Was this bad that I came looking like this? I was not dressed badly, I was wearing what I would normally dress like if I was going to play golf. Because that's what I was about to do when she called?

Let your baby be a baby!!! I mean doesn't your child have the next 12+ years of its life to learn this kind of stuff? Enjoy the time that your baby can be a baby. Whats gonna happen if this so called "your baby can read" thing really works (highly doubt it) and your child does learn how to read at the age of one. Whats gonna happen at school when all the other normal kids are just learning to read. Your child is going to be bored out of its mind. My opinion though so don't take offense but I would not waste my money!

Has anyone else been diagnosed with neuropathy and gone through evoked potential, MRI, and EMG testing?

About 2 months ago I decided to see my primary care physician for numbness and tingling and pain in hands, feet, arms and legs. She had no answers, but sent me to a neurologist. The neurologist set up 3 rounds of testing, MRI, Evoked Potential and EMG, as well as a 2 month follow up appointment, and several rounds of blood testing. MRI showed an enlarged Pineal Cyst, Evoked Potential showed slow response of nerve set in hands and feet. The EMG showed carpal tunnel of the wrists. Due to the enlarged Pineal Cyst I was sent then to a Neurosurgeon who also used x-rays as a secondary method of testing. Today at my "follow up" I expressed that I am still in immense pain daily, have numbness and tingling in all limbs and have had terrible head aches and facial twitching, of which he prescribed Magnesium 250mg for "pain." His recommendation going forward is to continue taking Vitamin B12, and add Magnesium, do physical therapy and now go and see a rheumatologist as well as an opthamologist. Then back again in 6 weeks for a second "follow-up" appointment. All in all I feel these doctors are simply sharing the wealth by referring their peers to help determine a cause, which no one can seem to do...I am already at about $10,000 in "treatment" and have had 0 treatment. Thankfully my insurance is 80/20 or I may have had to declare bankruptcy, and still would have no results, and no treatment. Has anyone esle had any similar situations, and has anyone been given a realistic treatment plan and definitive diagnosis?

What is the best aid to Carpal Tunnel, besides slitting my wrists?

Chronic pain for far too many years to conclude anything less than a decade. Not quite a fan of surgery (hence the title, not EMO) but nothing seems to work. I have tried everything OTC, Physical therapy, Pain Management, etc. To say the least, is interfering with my daily life at the least. Outside of surgery (which I have heard from others isn't necessarily the permanent solution nor does it help permanently) what will help the most? Nerve blocks? Acupressure? Reiki? Paying to have prayers said over them weekly? Hell I'm ready for surgery (almost) at this point... Is affecting my ability to do my livelihood which equates to boo.

How can I help my 4 year old use her words in times of emotional distress?

My 4 year olds preschool teacher had a talk with me about my child, saying that yesterday at school she wailed and cried over every little thing. She said she was clingy and not following directions. I am a single mom and sometimes get fed up and irriatated with my child. I know that I have to be a good example for her but sometimes is hard. I'm also depressed and think she may catch onto it. I'm going into high school this year and I'm really excited! I have a heart condition which does not allow me to play on sports teams, even though sports are what I'm best at. The only sport I can do is golf. I was looking through the activities booklet for my high school and they only have a boys golf team. I want to join it anyways. What I want to know is if they say I can't, because I'm a girl, is that illegal? I feel like I have weakness in my legs and possibly left arm?

I don't really know how to test for weakness. I can still walk around and such and can still use my arm..but it just doesn't feel right. I have been having headaches. I've had them my whole life but they're becoming more frequent and painful. I've been getting dizzy. I'm pretty sure the weakness is only in my left hand. Last light my left wrist started hurting really bad so I may have carpal tunnel. But idk about my legs. I haven't had anything to eat yet today. And my sleep pattern has been waayyy off this week. I haven't been getting the sleep I need. I have been having pain in my neck with the headaches. I'm pretty sure it's not stiffness cause I can move my chin to my chest with no pain. I'm getting a little concerned. I'm worried I have a brain tumor. My doctors have told me it's migraines and stress. I just worry cause I had a friend who had headaches and diarhea and nausea and missed periods and the dismissed it as stress also and she ended up collapsing and dying from a brain tumor. I don't know what to do. I've been to several doctors and they all tell me the same thing. I have normal blood pressure and I heard that's a good sign. And my headaches respond to over the counter meds and I heard that was a good sign as well. Please help me out. I'm very concerned.

My right arm is numb, anyone know what common cause is?

Last week (about 7 days ago) I noticed my arm when numb from the elbow down to my fingers. It feels like my arm is about to fall asleep. I have noticed on and off before this that my last two fingers, especially my pinky finger felt slightly numb. I made an appointment with my Dr, but could only see a nurse. She told me I might be getting Carpal Tunnel and to wear a brace at night and gave me prescription for Naproxen. The Naproxen does nothing but make me tired because of the higher dose and the brace is just uncomfortable and I don't think it's going to help. I am doing what she told me, but I am skeptical of her diagnosis without doing any blood work or scans how can she guess this is the problem? I don't have any pain.. just constant tingling and numbness. Any ideas what else I could try? I read that this could be a vitamin deficiency problem.. I don't know but I am going to go crazy if it doesn't get better soon.

My husband has a 60/40 split with his son, 60 being with his mom, we have him every other weekend friday to monday and every wed morning to thursday morning, shared holidays. We have many issues with her on and off, it really depends on her mood, over the past 2 years shes yelled at my husband in front of the child and called him names twice, lets her family disrespect him ( son would tell dad what certain people of her family calls him /'stupid/'), and 3 different occassions his grandmother would ask him why he was leaving and "i thought you didnt want to go to your dad?", his mom recently moved back with her parents so now the grandmother is trying to take control and tells me i need to have the same clothes on him when she picks him up, my step sons mom scheduled her vacations days based on taking our days (allowed 4 weeks a year) and 3 different occaissions we dont see him up to 3 weeks. She doesnt allow him to acknowlegde me as his step mother, (hes only 5, but very smart) he knows who his mom is and the difference between me and her. When his dad calls him she tells thier son to not take forever, and you can hear her in the background making jokes about him. One time she kept hanging up on him mid conversation. Everytime we call she always has him front of a video game and lets him continue playing while we are TRYING to talk to him. She does not communicate school events, we know when they are but she does not let us know if they will be going and will ignore the call until the event is over. We teach him to respect all people of his family but her side is different, they find it funny when he has outbursts, 5 yr old talks like a baby when he is around them. Is there anything about best interest of a child with a parent that will support the relationship of the other parent and not try to "win over" his attention, We want to parent together but it doesnt help if she wants to do everything her way. Also the mother use to live closer and we agreed to have him attend the same school he started preschool, She even already filled out the paperwork and turned it in so he is already registered but since she moved back with her mom she wants him to attend by their house, he will be playing sports by my house in fall and would be very conveinient to not go back and forth 25 min each. i do not agree with taking him out 1 week after school starts, we do have joint custody but what do i do if she moved? i still want him to continue to go to the school WE agreed on. So I went to the clinic 2 weeks ago and they x-rayed my left breast and said they didn't find any mass and gave me painkillers. Golfing tips NEEDED please!!!?

Ok so I'm 16 and started to golf for fun 2 weeks ago and I went to the driving range once and did alright all I care about is hitting the ball right now. Which is where I need help. In my yard probably a few times a day for like a half hour I go out with a 9 iron(closest to a wedge I have) and hit balls. I'm guessing 60% of the time I "top" the ball which is incredibly frustrating to chase the ball 10 feet and hit again, 20% of the time I take a chunk of dirt out before the ball without even touching the ball or just touching the ball with the side of the club and have it fly way left(I'm a lefty). 10% is that rare perfect hit. But that's only at first. If I can hold myself together and stay out there I hit more and more good hits until I get it almost everytime. Buttttt then the next time I cone out it's like in starting from scratch which is so frustrating because I know I can hit a good ball. I use the interlock grip and my pinky finger is getting a little sore but not bad. So is there anything to practice to keep doing good?? Cuz I just don't wanna be holding people up at the golf course and embarrassing myself

My wrist has been hurting for a few months off and on. What could be wrong?

For the past few months my wrist has been hurting off and on. It all started with me carrying a heavy trash bag and bending my wrist too far back. After about a week or two it cleared up. After a few more weeks my wrist started hurting again, so I wrapped it up with some gauze and rested it, which helped, and once again it stopped hurting. Finally within the past few weeks its started hurting again, even though I haven't really done much except for work. My dad thinks that it might be carpal tunnel, but it doesn't seem to match the symptoms. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I'm still very young so I don't suspect Arthritis. Please help if you can!

When can my son start preschool exactly?

I think he would be considered in the 3's class, which preschool at this age really isn't necessary. I am basing this on the fact that he will be 4 on November 2012, correct? If so, then he has missed the 'cut-off' dates for school. Most kids do benefit form a part-time part-day preK program when they are 4, the year before they start public school. I think the Kindergarten cut-off is September 30th must be 5. We have two in our house with Oct/Nov b-days, and they started school much later, 5 going on 6. Contact your local school district, they have an Early Childhood Office that can help you more. Avoid 'preschool programs' that run as a full-time day care center. This is not what a 3 yr old needs, nor a preK4. Most good preschools are free-standing, and have been in business for years.

Extreme wrist and knee pain?

ok im only 13 but i just got a hip surgery for a slid growthplate, which is something that only happens during the growth plate, but now during recovery, being in a wheel chair has made my bones weak and in serious pain. ive been drinking 4-5 large glasses of milk along with a full pinapple every two or 3 days. I also use braces for almost all my limbs witch works very well, there are ones at the 99 cent store that work the same as the expensive ones, and i frequently ice my hurting limbs and take ice baths. This workes for me and my bone/ joint pain. ( this happens for no reson and i am not obeise, i only weigh 101 pounds)

Okay , im going to start from the beginging i just started working out like walking 2 miles a day about twice a day, and i use to play A LOT OF XBOX and i started getting burning and pain in my fingers i still do play xbox but verly little. and now i have joint pain from my hand up to my sholder in both hands, and the same thing in my feet, i weigh about 330 from the last time i was checked, i had my blood check back in feburey they said i was 100% so i think the wight fushing on my feet gave me this, and playing xbox is the reson for carpal tunnel..... dose this sound rite plz, im dealing with tunns of stress and to get somthing like this solved would be amazing!!!!!

I have visual hallucinations?

I'm 18, female, and I've been hallucinating pretty regularly for as long as I can remember (like... preschool). I've never been on any drugs. A couple of years ago I transferred from private, Catholic school to the local public school. I just needed a better education than was offered at the private school. Yes, it's normal to have kids with up to a year of age difference. When I was in preschool, we had 5 or 6 four year olds and everyone else was 5.

For the past week or so, both hands, but mainly my right, has been tingling and feeling like they have fell asleep. In my right hand, it gets tingly on the outside and inside of my lower arm, my palm, and all the way up to my finger tips. I play piano in a youth symphony and have noticed that lately I've had to press into the keys harder with my right hand because I can't feel them (if that makes sense). I can definitely see your frustration. Who doesn't love alone time with their other half? At the same time, 4 hours with his family while he golfs doesn't sound so bad. My good friend who I have known since preschool told me he was in the Marines about a year ago. At first I believed him, so I was like oh that's so cool! And I just let it go. He could be gifted or he could be academically motivated. Both types are high performers. I have known kids entering Kindergarten reading chapter books that don't qualify as gifted. Anyhow, just continue to provide him opportunities to grow in areas he is interested in. Doesn't sound as if he will struggle. Do keep in mind that gifted children do tend to lag behind in either social or emotional growth so don't overlook that.

Okay. So about a month and a half ago I bought 2 grams of blue dream weed from a friend. I smoked it a few times and I loved it. So then one day I had a baseball game and i got mad at my dad who is a coach and I threatened to not go to the game if he didn't do something and he didn't so he left and I stayed home. I was extremely mad at him so I decided to smoke some of my blue dream. I rolled a joint and smoked it. It was a pretty decent size and I took probably 15-20 decent rips which is a lot. I walked inside and was doing homework and then it kicked in. I went outside and it felt like I was dead literally. I was tweaking so bad so I called a friend and he came over. When he was on his way I went inside. I started to walk up my stairs and I saw an un-describable picture in my head. I kept walking and all of the sudden everything went blurry and super fast motion and I laid down. I couldn't control anything - what I was doing, saying, etc. I kept seeing pictures in my head and also numbers. It looked like it was a movie in front of me and i can only describe it as it looked like my childhood for some reason. My eyes would just look at a few things and then fixate on a random thing. It was the scariest thing I have every experienced in my life. I can't really explain it anymore. So anyway, a few nights ago I snuck out with my friend, his girlfriend, and also a friend who is a girl. So we were on a golf course and we decided to go somewhere else so we all stood up but I was a little behind. I popped a piece if mentos gum into my mouth. I few seconds after my mouth and throat went as dry as they've ever been. I tried to scream to them but i couldn't out get anything out. I leaned over and tried to talk. One of my friends turned around and said dude are you okay. I couldn't talk still. It lasted for about 15 seconds if no breathing. But while I was "choking" I saw the same things I saw when I tripped really bad and that was over a month ago. My eyes fixated on things the same way as before. So then I told my friends what happened. I told my guy friend about the incident that happened because he smokes weed too. We decided to go into one of my friends car and just sleep. Then when I woke up me my friend went home. So now it has been a few days and sometimes I feel like life is fake. It feels like a dream and everytime I think about life not being real I totally zone out. I feel high all of the time. I eat a lot, and enshrine I start talking to someone I forget what I am saying. And when I do something I don't remember what I am doing. I have a terrible memory now. absolutely terrible. And like I said before, if I ask the question to myself, "is life real" I feel like I am in a dream and everything is fake. I just want to go back to normal like. Please help me!!! Also keep in mind that I haven't smoked weed for 13 days because I got caught. Please help!

I don't know how many doctors you've seen about it, but when it comes to chronic pain like that, sometimes you have to keep searching until you find a doctor that will actually research the cause. A pain management clinic might help you, so I'd at least check it out.

I found a large lump in my breast that is getting bigger...?

A few months ago I noticed a rather large lump near the top of my right breast. I have recently lost about 50 lbs and thought maybe the change in shape could just be from weight loss. I also considered that since I had been working out that maybe it was just muscle that had developed. The lump has seemed to grow in size and is now a little bigger than a golf ball. At times it is tender to the touch and feels much different than my left breast. I know I should go to the Dr but I currently don't have insurance. I start a new job with medical benefits in a couple of months and was hoping to put off a Dr's visit until then. My main concern is going in.. finding out I have cancer... and then not being able to get coverage because of being labeled "previous condition" I really don't want to worry my family or friends so I haven't really mentioned it to anyone. I want to be sure before I put them through any of that. I'm afraid of waiting to long to go but more afraid of being a burden to my family.

Volkswagen Golf estate - can't open tailgate?

I have a 2001 Volkswagen Golf estate, which I've owned for about 6 months. For the last couple of weeks, I've been unable to open the tailgate. I think the catch is electronically operated, but as the tailgate is stuck shut, I'm unable to access the catch to rectify the problem. I'm unable to unlock the tailgate conventionally by using the key, as there is something jammed in the barrel of the lock. This has been the case since I bought the car, but wasn't a problem at the time as the tailgate's catch worked perfectly well on the central locking. Also, I've checked all the fuses, and they seem fine. Can anyone help?

I'm going into my senior year. Our gpas are on the 6.0 system, but my counselor helped me convert it and I am a 3.0 to 3.1 gpa. This coming year im taking AP statistics, governmemt and environmental science. Going to a somewhat conservative school is very important to me. My sat scores are math : 520 writing: 560 and critical reading : 540 but im taking it again ( I know baylor superscores the sat) I just took my ACT so no score yet, but I took it in 7th grade since I was in the duke tip program with no calculator and not knowing the math and made a 15 composite. I was a varsity swimmer two years, varsity water polo one year and dance team two years. I am in the health science slc and was in health science technology. I have 2 years lifeguarding and one year nannying. I am in trooper school, two years. Its a preschool amd im a teacher and make lesson plans and have to be interviewed to make it. I was also a volunterr swim coach for two years... I need to add up the hours its alot. I also used to read to kids at my library. My high school is very competitive at the beginning of jr year I was in the top 36% my grades were best this year and so hopefully when they release new rankings i'm under top 33% so I would be top third. I live in massachusetts, I jus turned 16 and i am a rising junior in high school. My golf team was undefeated with a 20-0 record and were Conference champs. I am currently on the New England PGA Junior Tour. I have 3 top 10's, including 2 top 5's and a second place finish. I am currently in two major events coming up, the New England Junior Open and the Merrimack Valley Golf Championship. I have 10 more New England PGA Junior Tour events to compete in this year. Also, I am hoping to do a couple events on the Future Collegians World Tour, most likely the one at TPC sawgrass in december. My handicap is a 4.3 and is going to go even lower. I am 25 yrs. old and have been a dog groomer for 5 years. Back in November 2010, I had an injury to my hand while at work. I was combing out a dog, which is very repetitive and had shooting pains in my left hand through the middle of the wrist. Since then my left hand has about 50% of the strength that the right one does. I have numbness in both hands at night. My left forearm is constantly swollen. I also have two very small ganglion cysts on my wrist. I experience a cramp like pain in my hand often while I am at work. I was sent to have the needle EEG test for carpal tunnel and my results came back as normal. I am also currently taking 15mg of Meloxicam once a day for the inflammation. Could this still be carpal tunnel? I am awaiting another appointment with my orthopedic doctor. Thanks in advance for your help.

Now I think my examples are different from you injury and if it persists then medical attention is needed, even this is not uncommon. In my experience strengthening my grip has paid off in full.

My dog has a torn paw pad. Help?

I am not a vet, but it has happened to my dog before. Personally, what I did, was same thing, wrapping, cleaning, socks. But I didn't have money to go to vet, so I told my dog to guard, my bed. That way she laid on her side the whole time. And I had her do her bathroom in special box. That way she didn't walk at all. I know its silly, but I dissolved cough candy in water and wet her paws, it seemed to ease her pain a little bit, maybe because of the menthol's cooling effect. She was a poodle, and she could walk without visible limping after 5ish day. If your dog listens to you, then you can do the same thing. I hope this helps a little bit.

Unusual Eating Disorders?

I am 20yrs old and since I was in preschool I have had a phobia of food. I never used 2 be able to even touch any foods but now I have gotten alot better with that. I drive the ball around 260-300 with my driver and 3 wood my irons I can go around 155-200 and when I play a round of golf I normally can hit around 65-75 on a 62 par course and I am 17 been playing golf for about 2 - 3 years and had professional lessons I have a decent muscular build but have a fast swing my golf coach says if I work on my mechanics a bit more I could probably drive around 325-360 and hit my irons about 200-240 any thoughts?

Hypothyroidism... Am I crazy? Or convince the doctor?!?

My hypothyroidism was very tricky. I even had a test come back normal even though my levels were crazy. I'd say either find a new doctor (because yours doesn't seem very good) or contact and endocrinologist. I was convinced I had hypothyroidism even though people didn't believe me! So after you find a decent doctor you'll probably be wondering about medication. I have to take one pill a day and have regular blood tests to check my levels. Its really not as difficult to treat as it is to diagnose! Until then just take things one step at a time :)

Wrist and pinky finger pain?

About 2 days ago my wrist started hurting when i moved it in a certain way, the pain is on the side of my wrist (the side where my thumb is) and also goes up into my palm. Then today i noticed the fact that my pinky finger keeps locking up, and i can't keep it straight. It doesn't hurt but its weird cause i can't keep it straight up and when i try to straighten it, it's hard and it feels like it is locked or something. I don't really know how to explain it but i have no idea what to call it. My mom said it might be carpal tunnel but i don't have pain in my thumb and fingers, just the fact my pinky wont straighten.

Why do i have so many medical problems?

There probably isn't an answer for this....but I'm going to ask anyway. So ill start you off with the facts that im only 15 and im a girl. Just these past months i have been hit with all these medical problems, not to mention depression. So, i guess ill just list the medical problems i can think of (i cant remember stuff anymore). Alright, i have carpal tunnel syndrome, hip dysplasia, my right socket is too deep but my hip like doesn't go in all the way, my hips dislocate then relocate themselves, labral tear, scoliosis, anxiety (i get panic attacks sometimes and whatnot), iron deficiency, very low vitamin D, mono, hypothyroidism, a polyp on my gallbladder (i have to have surgery in a couple weeks), ingrown toe (they had to remove parts of my toenail twice. They stuck a 4 inch needle in my toe 5 times), my knees are not aligned right, ADD, migraines, cataracts, and im still waiting for some test results they had to take 8 vial's of my blood. I have other symptoms: zapping like sensations in my head, mild to severe pain in the upper right corner like under my right rib cage, mild to severe (usually severe) pain in the area under my belly button, when i go to the bathroom, its really painful because that's usually when the pain under the belly button is the worst and it feels like something is tugging from the inside. My bones always hurt i.e. my arms, fingers, thighs, hips, especially my knees and the tibia or whatever that is. I also havnt had a big appetite. And im so tired all the time most of the time i dont even have enough energy to open a door. Sooo yeah. Haha. I have a lot on my plate. I'm sorry if it seems like im a being a baby or im full of myself or whatever. I usually don't complain about these things but i just really want to know why all this is going on, and why all of the sudden? And im actually not overwhelmed, everyone thinks i am but im not. Im not scared either. Im just tired. Well, im scared about the surgery. But thats it. So, anyway, id just like to hear your opinions on why i have so many medical problmes. Thank you. (:

I got injured on the job and am allowed to work on light duty I recieved tendonitis and my carpal tunnel has been worsened as a result if the injury. My employer is allowing me to seek treatment on my own time by their doctors. I know that I will not be recieving disability or workers compensation due to the fact that thankfully i am able to work but at the end of this do i get a settlement?

Ergonomic mouse why is it clicking so fast?

I have an Ortho mouse that the clicker is sporadic, it opens sites automatically, and when I go to e-mail, I click on an e-mail address and the clicker is so fast it opens and closes immediately....I have to keep clicking til it catches......The cursor moves ok tho.......I went to my mouse setting and put it on slow and I went to keyboard and put the cursor blink rate on low, but to no avail? any suggestions would be helpful, I paid allot for this ergo mouse for my carpal tunnel and I really cant afford another!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

My wrist has been hurting on the pinky side, kind of where the little bone is on your wrist.. it only hurtwith weight and some twisting... When it first started hurting a couple of weeks ago my forearm hurt too but my forearm is fine now. Carpal Tunnel - Numbness in neck?

I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The pain and numbness in my arms at night doesn't bother me at all compared to the numbness in my neck. It is so uncomfortable I can't fall asleep and I wake up every couple hours. My Doctor told me it is normal to experience numbness and pain in neck with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they found relief of it in any way.

How many hours should I practice guitar a day?

My husband told me about something that happened with his boss today. He works in a head start program as a preschool paraprofessional. He and a female teacher have about 20 preschool students. Today his boss told him (in front of the female teacher) that he shouldn't read to the kids anymore but instead let the female teacher read to them because kids like it better and respond better when a woman reads. I used to be a SAHM, then hubby's company closed(he put up cell phone towers/construction). So he took a job at the same place I am working. I am working 8.5-9 hrs day and a 40-45 hr. work wk. Hubby works full time too. We have other children at home. Youngest is 2yrs old. We literally work separate shifts so kids don't need a sitter. He gets home at 4 and I head out the door to work. Hubby wanted me to quit, but we do need the money. I am due in Sept. I'm only 24wks. I have had a few complications with my pregnancy. I sit at a desk(not allowed to put my feet up). Having lower back pain and my feet look like pillows they swell so bad. Dealing with carpal tunnel, I have wrist braces. Should I ask dr. to cut me back to 4.5 hr days vs. 8.5-9hrs. Would this really make a difference? Will my work allow it? Would dr. be willing to do this? Hubby thinks with the money we'd save in gas, headaches, etc.. It would be easier for me to stay at home. I don't. I think I should tough it out until at least 8 months.

Carpal Tunnel Relief Advice?

I had numbness and tingling in my fingers. At night it would wake me up, and my whole arm would be numb but hurting at the same time. I'd have to get up and shake my arm to get the feeling back. I had it in both hands also, so if it wasn't one side keeping me up, it was the other. Sleeping in wrist splints sometimes helps. They keep your wrists straight. Elevation, heating pads, and pain meds really did nothing for me because the nerve is compressed. That's what causes the problem. Eventually I had bilateral carpal tunnel surgery. Best thing I ever did. I had one hand done, and then the other. Had the surgery on Thursday, went to work on Monday. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, and the relief was immediate.

i think i have a problem with my left hand. im typing with one hand so sorry for typing errors and no caps. i have a pain where the carpal tunnel is (I think...) and there is a tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny little red line there. its slightly tingly and my fingers hurt too but not much at all. my pinky is tingling somewhat, too. it doesent hurt when i bend my wrist. and i think im too young for carpal tunnel syndrome. what could it be? all help greatly appreciated. for now ill rest my hand. thank you ^^

You are right in believing that she is becoming dependent on the Vicodin. These type of drugs are for the management of short term pain, not chronic long term pain. Three years is a ridiculously long time to be taking them and 6 a day is definitely excessive. You are a good friend to be concerned for her and would not be overstepping any boundaries by going to the Doctor with her. I am not sure that telling the family is necessary at this stage since she will probably consider that a betrayal. Let the Dr. know she is taking 6 a day, he is probably prescribing three or four a day. 800 mg. of ibuprofen may help her pain while she slowly reduces her Vicodin dosage. Tell the Doctor that you will help her wean off the medication and offer to help with her husband so she can have the surgery. Be compassionate and empathetic but stay strong. She really needs you right now and the Doctor will probably be thankful for your help.

I am sure if you want to open a preschool you do not need to buy a box of pre planned materials when you work for a preschool they have curriculum you learn to individualize about each child and do observation and make a lesson plans we learn this on the job, you cannot use pre planned materials because everything is child choice and not staged, you provide large group activities, small group what are you adding to the environment etc, different children need different things, this would not work for you depending on your children served, talk to teachers in child development at your local Junior college or university and anyone will tell you this.

I just feel incredibly upset and disappointed in myself right now. I'm in a golf class, and i don't want to be vain or arrogant. But people would consider me as one of the best in class. I have two new golf buddies, one whom i'm always trusting, and the other, not sure about. But recently we've been practicing, and they've been getting better.
